Stark County VINELink Coverage
Illinois VINE is a source-agency notification network. It can return people in custody or recently released when the reporting agency supplies the record. VINE does not own Stark County Jail's original booking or release log. The source remains the authority for the event, and a public result may change as data is sent or ages out.
Stark County feed participation could not be confirmed from an official agency list. Inspect the reporting agency on every match. A missing result may mean nonparticipation, lag, a protected record, different spelling, or another custody system. Federal sentenced cases belong in the BOP Locator. Immigration custody belongs in ICE's system.
Search Stark County VINELink Records
Use a known agency ID or case number when possible. Names can collide, and a correct spelling may return several people. Match age or other identifiers, source agency, location, and case data. Guest search may require CAPTCHA.
- Open the Illinois portal and choose Search for Someone.
- Keep the offender or defendant search selected.
- Enter a name, agency ID number, or case number. Prefer a unique number.
- Complete guest CAPTCHA if it appears.
- Compare identifiers, source agency, custody location, and case or ID.
- Open the match and read the exact custody event.
- Confirm a material release with the Sheriff, release log, or named facility.
An agency-supplied photo may be offered, but it is only an identification aid. It does not establish current custody or the release reason. The VINE FAQ explains why the service should not be the only safety plan.
Read Stark County VINE Results
A result is an event from one source. “Released” or “out of custody” supports departure from that agency, not freedom from every system. A Stark defendant can move to an off-site jail, IDOC, federal custody, or immigration custody. Active custody also describes only the reporting source at its last update.

For a Stark jail event, call 309-286-2541 and request the release date, time, authority, type, and transfer destination. For a state-prison event, compare the IDOC profile. IDOC may show parole or MSR status and date labels, but its public search is not a full archive of every discharged person.
Note: Preserve the exact status label and source agency rather than rewriting every event as a Stark County release.
Register for Stark Release Alerts
Registration starts from a matched person record, not a broad county list. Available channels can include email, text, phone or TTY, and in-app notice. VINE advises using more than one method when practical. Account setup may require a code sent by email or text.
- Open the matched record and choose notification or registration.
- Select the events and contact methods offered.
- Enter the email address or phone number accurately.
- Complete any email or text verification code.
- For voice alerts, create the required four-digit PIN.
- When called, hear the event and enter the PIN followed by #.
The PIN is not an inmate number or release authorization. It confirms receipt and may be needed to change registration. An unacknowledged call can repeat for a state-dependent period. Store the PIN safely.
Confirm Stark County Release Alerts
The original Stark release log may record date, time, authority, and destination. A court order may explain the legal basis. Together, they distinguish community release from transfer. The full named-person workflow appears on the Stark County released inmate search.
State custody requires a separate check. The IDOC search applies only when Illinois corrections took custody or supervises the person. It does not cover every pretrial or county-jail release. BOP and ICE are outside VINE's federal scope. Each system can say “not here” while another holds the person.

Stark VINELink Delays and Gaps
VINE data can change between transmission and receipt. A missing result can reflect nonparticipation, an offline feed, delay, protected data, spelling mismatch, another custody system, or a recently released entry that no longer appears. No official Stark online roster or release feed exists for comparison.
After an unexpected release, transfer, escape, or return-to-custody alert, follow the safety directions and contact the reporting agency. Do not approach a person based on an automated status. If the result conflicts with a court order, ask the physical custodian whether processing, transport, or another hold remains pending.
Stark Post-Release Registry Checks
The Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry and other specialized registries are not VINE substitutes. They cover only people with a statutory registration duty. A match can document a post-release registration status, but not the exact jail release time or present custody.
Confirm identity before relying on a result. Absence proves neither continued custody nor lack of a record. For release, return to the reporting jail, IDOC, or federal agency. For disposition, use the Stark docket.
Stark County Release Record Fallback
When VINELink returns no match, direct county records are the strongest local fallback. The Stark Sheriff maintains the jail record, and the county website publishes no current roster or rolling release list. Call the jail line with a full legal name and a booking or case number if available. Ask whether the person is presently held. If not, request the release date and time, authority, release type, and whether another agency received custody.
A written Illinois FOIA request can seek the native release-log entry. Narrow terms help the office locate it. Ask for the booking number, admission and release timestamps, release authority, reason, destination or transfer agency, and releasable field definitions. If part of the record is withheld, the response should identify the exemption and release reasonably separable material. Court minutes can explain the judge's order, but they may not show the moment staff finished processing or found another hold.
Off-site custody needs one extra check. A Stark County case can proceed while a Peoria-area jail physically holds the defendant. In that setting, VINE may identify a source other than Stark, and the Stark docket may precede the actual custody event. Confirm both the deciding court and physical custodian before treating an alert as community release.
